Classes for all

Our full range of classes resumes on Thursday 7th October 2021 at Summertown. For details and more information please visit the Classes page.

Dancing at Summertown

We were very pleased to welcome back dancers to Summertown Hall in September.  The social dancing was enhanced by live music from Ian Muir, Chris Oxtoby and Ian Robertson on three evenings.  The usual timetable of classes (details on Classes page) will resume on 7th October.  Dances for our Ball programme in October (see Events page) will be included in these classes. The health and safety of our dancers and teachers is our priority and we are continually monitoring government and RSCDS guidelines in our planning.

Garden social and dance

Over 40 dancers enjoyed a social afternoon in the lovely garden at Maison Française d'Oxford in Norham Road on Sunday 15th August. The weather was clement and people were able to catch up with friends and take part in some gentle dancing on the lawn.  All the dances on the programme, including the extras, were tackled with enthusiasm and there was much delight that skills had not been lost.

Alice's Step Class

Alice, one of our teachers, delivered a series of beginners' online step classes earlier this year. This solo form of Scottish dance provided a great way to continue dancing in lockdown times as it could be done at home without the need for a partner or a set.

The lessons, which have been recorded, covered basic steps and six dances. To find out more the classes and how to access the links for the videos, please contact

Dance Scottish at Home

The RSCDS produced Dance Scottish at Home almost every week during the period of Covid-19 restrictions. You can find archive copies of emails, videos and podcasts on the RSCDS website.
